International Robot Olympiad 2000 The 2nd International Robot Olympiad, the fountain of creativity and science technology which give our children a chance to be the future scientist has been held from November 11th to 13th at Gymnasium #3 of Seoul Olympic Park, Seoul, Korea. This is starting point as a international contest. Almost ten thousand people participate annually for the national contest and students from five Asian countries (Hong-Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Korea) have participated. Taiwan, Thailand and Korea) have participated. The participants stayed in Olympic Parktel for three days and became a part of this scientific technology competition that became a field of friendship. Students chosen from preliminary rounds and national match participated in regular category, especially this year, Animal Robot Contest was held as a free category with teams from all over the nation on November 12th. Students could create their animal robot without any limitation of the material or the size of a robot. Many participants have shown scientific creativeness with great imagination, and this gave spectators so much fun and interest, the participants received round of applause from everyone. Besides the contest, the host prepared the night of friendship, which the participants had chance to experience and try new cultures like Samulnoli (Korean traditional music) and Bongsan Tal Chum(Korean traditional mask dance). Through the event the participants from all nations got closer and shared their friendships. The rest of participating teams were rewarded with "Award of Encouragement" by Chair of IROC (International Robot Olympiad Committee) for encouraging them for the efforts and love they have put into this event. 1.
